The Independence Day

Today is a special day for us Finns. The 6th of December we celebrate the Independence Day of our dear country. Today we celebrate the 96th anniversary of Finland. Even the grandfather of the lady of the house was one of the brave men, who fought for our country and lost his life to keep our country independent. So we are very thankful, especially today.

Traditionally, we Finns spend our day off watching the Independence Day Ball the President has every year, from the television. In addition to the government members and some distinguished celebrities, the President invites some ordinary people who he has met during his visits around the country to this fancy event.

I guess my invitation was lost in the mail or something, I don't have any other explanation for this otherways. Well, maybe next year! That would actually be better, since in a year I won't be a kitten anymore, and I would be allowed to enjoy the famous punch and attend to the after party. Yes, next year is my year.

  3. Thanks for telling us about your Independence Day, Carlos. Too bad you didn't get invited to the ball, though.

  4. I've read about the fights Finns have had to become and stay independent, and your history is very impressive. God bless your country.
